Hello All-
I am trying to map 17799 to NIST 800-26. I have found a document in NIST 800-53 that maps the two together however the footnote states that the table includes reference to ISO/IEC FDIS 17799:2004Nov28, Code of practice for Information Security Management and NIST 800-26. I have the 17799:2000(E), and the table doesn't line up. Does anyone know of the version of the 17799 document that they are referring to? Any help is greatly appreciated! thanks!

ISOuser -

In the Jan-2005 version (Final Public Draft) of 800-53, this footnote referenced the 2000 version of ISO 17799. The version of 800-53 you are reading is the February 2005 version and has been updated to reference the yet-to-be-released version of ISO 17799.

Net result, as of April 12, 2005 – the 2004 version of ISO 17799 was at stage 50.20. FDIS stands for Final Draft International Standard. This means, in a nutshell, ISO is voting to determine if it will become a published standard. So – I doubt you’ll be able to get your hands on this version until its voted on and officially published. I’m guessing the folks at NIST have access to such a version.

Good luck...

I am having problems tracking down the 'January' version of 800-53...all I can find is the new version that references to the new-up-and-coming 17799. Any suggestions?

Well - I'm a bit confused on what you're looking for...

The January version of 800-53 was a draft. It's no longer available and has been replaced by the February version

I have a copy of both the January and February versions of 800-53. This page (where the footnote first refrences 17799:2000 then 17799:2004) is virtually identical.

Does this help you? I'm not sure why you would want and old copy...

I am a bit confused about mapping NIST with ISO. I would like to have january version of NIST SP800-53 so that I can remove final doubt. Anyone who have old version of NIST SP800-53 (january) please send it to boris.busac@hnb.hr.
Thank you
