I read somewhere that BS 7799 (BS7799-2) is process to eventually become an ISO standard: ISO 24743.

Is this true? Does anyone have any information on it?

Yes, ISO is going to release BS7799 Part 2 as ISO 24743.

The document has progressed to final committee draft. The document will be in aligned with ISO 17799:2005
